Today Steve Jobs took the stage at a special Apple event for the press and introduced the iPad 2, the next-generation of the original iPad. It addresses most of the shortcomings of its predecessor – speed, RAM limitations, lack of camera(s), etc. – while retaining the same battery life and price points. There’s also a new white model, which is absolutely beautiful, if I do say so myself.
Of course I want one, but that should go without saying for any new Apple product. Am I going to get one? Not likely. Frankly, the only really compelling thing the new iPad has is the smart case accessory – sold separately – which magnetically attaches to the front of the device and can double as a stand. It truly is, as the website cleverly puts it, “one great idea on top of another.”
