EE Insider – a richly fabulous resource for ExpressionEngine enthusiasts – has a nice writeup and overview of the changes to templates and template group editng in ExpressionEngine 2.0. Two awesome pieces of news:
- EE now detects changes to the physical, flat files saved to the server
- EE will accept and use different, approved file extensions, such as .css and .xml
EllisLab has also done extensive work with the in-browser template editor, which now features an ExpressionEngine tag validator.
From where I sit, the 2.0 update is looking pretty nice, and pretty worth the wait.
Update: Brendon Carr makes a great point about the now-possible opportunity for theme creators.
