New ‘ZuneHD’ confirmed, but will anyone care?
“We’re painfully aware that applications are absolutely a key part of the experience and to some degree we have fallen behind what the iPhone has done. That hasn’t gone unnoticed,” Rodriguez said.
Based on the early specs being reported I honestly think they’ve got a good thing going for them with this ZuneHD – the trouble is in the release date: 2009. This should have come out of Redmond in 2007.
I’m looking forward to it. I have loved my first generation Zune, it’s been working great since the day I bought it. The Zune software, after a couple initial glitches, is great, too. Way more aesthetically pleasing than iTunes, hogs less resources, and is just plain cooler. I have an iPhone, too, and think it’s great as well. Anyway, pretty excited to at least check out the ZuneHD. 30 GB isn’t cutting it for me any more.

I’m amazed at how long a company like Microsoft can maintain dominance in a constant state of playing catch-up.
