The Mysterious “Save For Web” Color Shift:
It isn’t a Mac/PC thing, it isn’t a monitor thing, it isn’t because the color profile is somehow set “wrong”. Fellow designers: Somewhere between PSD and JPG, Photoshop is draining our colors of their life, like some horrible, RGB-stealing vampire.
This made my day. ✓

So what do you do about it? Anything?

Brandon, it’s mostly:
Make sure you view images in Proof Setup > Monitor RGB, or change your color settings to that permanently (or both, for slightly better results).
Then, when saving for web, uncheck ICC Profile, then find the little arrow button and uncheck “convert to sRGB.” This should get you pretty close.
