EE Insider — a richly fabulous resource for ExpressionEngine enthusiasts — has a nice writeup and overview of the changes to templates and template group editng in ExpressionEngine 2.0. Two awesome pieces of news:
- EE now detects changes to the physical, flat files saved to the server
- EE will accept and use different, approved file extensions, such as .css and .xml
EllisLab has also done extensive work with the in-browser template editor, which now features an ExpressionEngine tag validator.
From where I sit, the 2.0 update is looking pretty nice, and pretty worth the wait.

Microsoft’s Sidekick/Pink problems blamed on dogfooding and sabotage. AppleInsider’s source:
No one really grasps how dysfunctional Microsoft has become. Yes Microsoft did spend half a billion dollars for, as near as anyone can tell, absolutely nothing.
If you haven’t been following this story about Sidekick/Danger/Microsoft, be happy. It’s like a worst-case scenario type of disaster.
Update: This from Microsoft, today:
We are pleased to report that we have recovered most, if not all, customer data for those Sidekick customers whose data was affected by the recent outage.

Mossberg, on Windows 7:
Windows 7 beats the Mac OS in some areas, such as better previews and navigation right from the taskbar, easier organization of open windows on the desktop and touch-screen capabilities. So Apple will have to scramble now that the gift of a flawed Vista has been replaced with a reliable, elegant version of Windows.
I mostly agree with him. Windows 7 is what Vista should have been. I hope it’s not too late. ✓
I’m gonna try Mac OS X’s Hidden Single-Application Mode for a bit and see how it goes; love the concept. (Via Daring Fireball) ✓
